When the Vonlix team came to us, they had a clear vision: build a booking platform that actually works for barbers, salons, and beauty professionals — and make it free. No hidden fees. No credit card required. Set up in under five minutes.
The existing options were either too expensive, too complicated, or too generic. Barbers and salon owners don't have time to learn complex software. They need something that just works.
The Challenge
Building a booking platform is one thing. Building one that's genuinely free, fast to set up, and powerful enough to run a business is another. The key challenges were:
- Zero-friction onboarding — businesses had to be live in under 5 minutes with no credit card
- Real payment processing — Stripe integration where funds go directly to the business bank account
- Smart scheduling — drag-and-drop calendar that handles staff schedules, time blocking, and day/week views
- No-show protection — require card details upfront and charge cancellation fees automatically
- Client CRM — track history, spending, and preferences without a separate tool
Our Approach
We started with the end user: the barber or salon owner standing behind a chair, phone in hand, trying to manage bookings between clients. Every decision we made was filtered through that lens.
Design Philosophy
The interface had to feel effortless. We used a clean, minimal design with generous whitespace and clear visual hierarchy. Every action — adding a service, checking a booking, viewing reports — should be one tap away.
We built the platform as a responsive web app that works beautifully on mobile, since most business owners manage their schedule from their phone.

Online Payments via Stripe
Accept card payments through Stripe. Funds go directly to the business bank account. No holding period, no middleman. The business gets paid, and the client gets a seamless checkout experience.
Google Maps Ready
Every business gets a unique booking link they can add to their Google Business Profile. When someone finds them on Google Maps, they can book instantly. This alone drives a significant increase in new client acquisition.
No-Show Protection
Require card details upfront when clients book. If they don't show up, the cancellation fee is charged automatically. This feature alone saves businesses hundreds of pounds per month in lost revenue.
Client Management (CRM)

What We Learned
Building for small business owners teaches you to respect every second of their time. They don't read documentation. They don't watch tutorials. They tap, swipe, and expect it to work. That constraint made us better builders.
The no-show protection feature was particularly interesting — it required careful UX design to ensure clients understood the policy without feeling penalised, while still protecting the business.
